The emphasis of the Skills for Life agenda is on learners progressing from one level of the curriculum to another, or achieving a qualification. This can take a long time. It is important to be clear of the role mla is playing in the learning journey. Therefore what learners do longer term is an important factor when evaluating mla activities that address Skills for Life.
Partnership with Skills for Life providers will ensure that short or taster activities provided by museums, libraries and archives (mlas) can lead to longer term Skills for Life learning if appropriate. See the Working in Partnership page.
Mlas can also provide progression routes for learners. For example, the Museum Pathways project recorded a high number of learners choosing to continue as volunteers after the end of their formal placement.
